With some more research I cam across the brand KAMAL who creates a variety of designs on paper format e.g cards, invites etc. The designs are simplified versions of complex traditional patterns and they are exactly what I’m trying to achieve.
The designer uses a selective colour palette and mixture of straight lines and circles.
